                                       Chapter Eight: Deep Conflicts (L)

Things at the Time Bounty Hunters headquaters were running smoothly. The T.A.P. agent had gotten a personal call from Sandra, the leader of the head squad herself, to check out a war that was supposed to be going on between a family of hyenas and lizards. She began looking for two squads that were available to take the assignment, and at the time, her search was getting harder and harder.

In the control room...

The white vixen with royal blue eyes sighed heavily as she slowly pushed her white long hair back and scanned the information in front of her. She then typed a few keys on the keyboard and watched as the screen displayed ten squads. Some were highlighted blue for on duty. Others were highlighted grey for being on their break. But two were highlighted green for standby for any side tasks or missions. The white vixen smiled from relief and began to select both squads. 'Good, we have the Healers and the Defenders, I'll call them right away.' the white vixen thought. She typed a few buttons on the keyboard and then a message began to blink onto the screen. 'Shouldn't be long now...' the white vixen thought as her blue eyes scanned the screen.

In another room...
A white german sheperd whistled softly to herself as she rocked back in forth slowly in an office chair. She had faint brown eyes and her long hair was put into a stylish design with the help of a scrunchie. She was wearing a bright blue T-shirt and black jeans. She was also wearing two silver bracelets with a pair of grey sneakers. She looked over to her right slightly and noticed a black terrier sitting in a chair while looking up towards the ceiling. "Hey Shalyn, what are you thinking about?" the sheperd asked. The terrier was broken out of her train of thought and looked over at the sheperd with her hazel eyes. "Patricia you know there's nothing to do around here. I'd rather be on a mission." she answered. The terrier had brown hair that flowed down to her shoulders with hints of yellow at the tips of it. She was wearing a grey blouse with a pair of white pants. "Shalyn you're always ready for the next mission. Shame you almost always get us blown up in all of them." another female laughed across the room. The other two hunters turned around and noticed a tan persian cat with green eyes glancing over at them both. She was wearing a yellow tank-top with a green skirt and a pair of green running shoes to match her outfit. "Oh yeah Courtney, well at least I don't almost get us caught." Shalyn snapped back quickly.

As the feline was about to reply to the terrier's remark, a beeping noise filled the room. The three females looked at each other quickly and then towards the computer. They quickly got up and then reached the screen that emitted the sound. Suddenly an image of the white vixen popped up and they noticed she had one of her hands set on her comlink. "Hi guys, seems I have another task for you. Everyone is quite busy, so do you think you'll be up for it?" the white vixen asked. The black terrier and tan cat looked at the white sheperd, waiting for an answer from their leader. Patricia crossed her arms and then nodded, "Well, we did quite alright on our last one, I don't see why not." she replied. The white vixen on the screen smiled as she began to type immediately on the computer she was on. "Excellent, I'm sending you the coordinates of where you need to be. You will be sent to the estimated location of where the problem is taking place." the white vixen remarked. The sheperd nodded and then turned around as the screen went blank. "Ok team, seems we have another mission, everyone get strapped and into gear, we're going back in time." she informed. The other two females nodded and then exited out of another room.

Suddenly a pair of boots began to echo in Patricia's ears and she turned around. She saw a red robin walk slowly towards her and then put her hand on her hip. She had olive colored eyes and was wearing a deep blue short-sleeved shirt with blue shorts that matched with her light blue shoes. "Leaving so soon? My feet are killing me. Didn't we just do a mission." the robin whined. The sheperd laughed as she stood up from her chair and then patted the avian on her back. "You're just lazy as ever Linda. Promise that we get a real break when we get back." the canine offered. "That's funny... I could have sworn you said that last time." Linda exclaimed with a slight stare at the dog. "Hey... I don't make the rules." the canine remarked before slowly starting to pick up speed towards the door. "Oh no Patricia, you ain't gettin away that easily." the robin warned and then began to run after her. The canine had already gotten her head start and had flung the door open before Linda could catch her. "Hehe... better luck next time Linda." Patricia shouted behind her while running towards the control room.

In another room...
A vixen was reading a book while walking around slowly through the room. She was a brown vixen with violet eyes. Her figure didn't say much, except that she worked out at a minimal of three days a week. She was conscious about her weight all the time, but didn't let others know that. The book she was reading proved it; a cooking book addressing how to stay thin. She was wearing a pink shirt with purple jeans along with black sneakers. She scanned through her book quickly while still pacing the floor. "Hey Adriana, what do you find so interesting about that book?" someone asked beside her. The brown vixen let out a yelp and then quickly closed her book. "Oh it's nothing, just... a novel." she exclaimed. She saw a somewhat big brown bear looking over her shoulder as she gave off a warm smile. The bear looked quite intimidating when out on missions, but looked harmless to her friends. She had green eyes a scar near her nose. No one knew where the scar had came from, since she never said anything about it. A white t-shirt fit snuggly on her large figure and a plain faded blue skirt.

The brown vixen smiled nervously and then looked back towards her book. "Like I said, nothing, nothing ok?" she asked almost frantically. "You're obviously hiding something Adriana, is it like an explosive plot or something?" someone asked lowly across the room. The two hunters turned slightly and saw a cheetah lazily sitting in a lounge chair. She definitely had a tomboy look going on for her at the time, and she seemed fine with it. She had brown eyes and had yellow hair flowing down to her neck. She was wearing a T-shirt that hugged onto her figure tightly along with black cargo pants and a pair of white sneakers. "Maybe Maxine... but you'll never know." Adriana replied and then stuck her tongue out at the cheetah. The cheetah sprung up and then ran towards the vixen with a smirk on her face. "Oh no wait please." Adriana started as she began to run around the bear. "Chloe get out of the way so I can catch this vixen. I need to get that book from Adriana." she exclaimed and continued running around the big furry.

A brown squirrel began to wipe the face of her wristband as she glanced over at the three playing around. "And to think, we're the ones that got that major mission done earlier at the ice caps. Are you kidding me?" she asked in a soft laughter. She had grey eyes with brown hair tied in a bun. She was wearing a grey T-shirt under a short light brown revealing shirt, a pair of grey shorts and black sandals. "You're one to talk Brittany, you were the first to complain that you were too hot on the mission." Chloe giggled. "That's just because... it was hot." the squirrel stated in a matter of fact tone. The cheetah stopped chasing after the vixen and then looked over at Adriana, "I agree with Brit though, it was really hot on that planet. Make sure our next one gets better air cooling." she exclaimed lazily and then walked back over to her couch. Suddenly the room was filled with a beeping noise and the four looked over at the computer. Adriana walked slowly towards the computer closest to her and then looked at the screen. There was a white vixen sitting at a desk with a comlink headset on her head. "Ah, the Healer squad, glad to see you." the white vixen greeted.

The brown vixen blinked a few times and put her book down on the clear space beside the computer. "Hey Laura, what's up? You have another mission for us?" the vixen asked. The white vixen nodded and then began typing, "Actually, yes I have. You'll be working with squad two on this one. This mission is going to be a bit tougher than the others, so I would suggest being fully ready before heading out. The briefing will be set into the wristbands and the coordinates will be automatically set in there as well. I would ask that you go as soon as possible. Squad two has already left and they're waiting for further orders from me." the white vixen remarked in a soft voice. "Got it Laura, thanks again." Adriana replied and then turned away from the screen. "So we're starting another mission?" Brittany asked. Adriana nodded, "Yeah, a big one. This one seems very important, at least the way Laura was making it sound, so I really advise that we take this one seriously. We want this done quick and clean as possible." the brown vixen instructed. "Right." the other three females replied in unison. All four females walked slowly towards the door and then walked out of the room.

An hour later...
The white german sheperd looked around silently and then looked at the red vixen beside her. "This mission has to be big if the agency sent two elite squads to take care of this." she remarked. The brown vixen nodded and then looked ahead at their destination. "Yes, that means they weren't taking this lightly. If it's this important, we should try and take care of this quickly." she remarked. The canine nodded, "Right Adriana. Now I wonder how in the world this big fight started? I mean, if it's a family war, who started it, and why? More than likely near the end we will have to choose sides. Even though we swear neutrality, someone was in the wrong and someone was in the right. Or both could be in the wrong, I just think it will be smarter to find out what's going on." Patricia stated. The brown vixen shook her head as she folded her arms, "I don't think so. Wouldn't it be just easier to wipe their minds? Even though we have to make the decision of taking care of the source of the problem, I think it would nicely cut our time and effort by a long shot. We won't need to be doing so much work with the dead weight out of the picture." she remarked. The two leaders began to think and looked ahead.

The two were staring at a dark and huge warehouse. The information they had recieved had landed them in front of an abandoned location. But in a few hours, there was certainly going to be a huge battle going on between the lizards and the hyenas. The sky around them was streaked with a dark violet and dark blue. The wind rustled hard as urban trash began to blow through the air. The hunters weren't too particularly fond of decaying urban settings, especially at night. It reminded them too much of the mistakes of Earth. "Come on, let's take care of this. Either way we do it, it's gotta be done." Patricia remarked and then walked slowly towards the warehouse. "Patricia, we at least need to check the perimeter, make sure we have full advantage if we're going to take these guys down by force." the brown vixen ordered. The canine then turned around to look at the brown vixen, "Ok, that sounds fine, my squad will check the left side of the area, and you get your squad to check the right." Patricia suggested.

The brown vixen nodded and headed towards her squad, "Sounds fine by me, meet you in about ten minutes then?" she asked. The white sheperd nodded and then pressed a few buttons on her wristband, "Yep, let's just hope that the situation isn't as serious as the agency makes it sound." she whispered to herself."Hey Adriana do we really have to wear these things? I mean it's a bit too tight and they're not really in the fashion sense..." the cheetah remarked as she turned slightly to look towards her back. The red vixen began pressing a few buttons on her wristband as she looked forward at the warehouse. "Well right now Maxine that's the only suit that we can use. The agency said that they are currently making us new outfits now, so I don't know what to really tell you. You'll just have to wait and see for yourself." the brown vixen remarked. "Now everyone ready?" Adriana asked out loud. Everyone in her squad nodded and set something onto their wristbands, "Then let's get this mission accomplished." Adriana instructed and the eight hunters disappeared in a flash of light.

                                              To Be Continued
After Tikal and Michelle found out that something else was going on at the tournament other than the matches, Tikal begged Sandra to call in the suspicous activity. Sandra did and called the T.A.P. agent Laura to the case. After she got the information, the white vixen called in squad two and three. Taking the fight away from the tournament, this is the Defender's and the Healer's take on the mission they recieved.
